For the last quarter century, Houston native Arden Eversmeyer journeyed across the country to record hundreds of oral “herstories” with a mostly invisible population that is rapidly disappearing. Old Lesbians honors Arden’s legacy by animating the resilient, joyful voices she preserved in the Old Lesbian Oral Herstory Project.

The workshop will be held via Zoom on December 2 from 7 PM to 8:30 PM EST and is open to all. General Admission is $15, $10 for WIFT-US members, and free to WIFVNE members with an optional $10 "Pay it Forward" donation.

    EVENT DESCRIPTION

Without a musical background, talking about music can be intimidating.

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to listen more closely to a piece of music, develop a practical language for discussing music, and learn what factors to consider when adding music to your next production project.

Through deep listening and discussion, you’ll build your musical vocabulary and confidence. This workshop is perfect for beginners and seasoned professionals—anyone looking to sharpen their musical understanding and communication skills.

Attendees will become better music listeners in life-ways and more effective music communicators in work-ways.

Joel Roston has composed music for films, commercials, podcasts, web videos, and installations, composed chamber works and solo pieces for numerous ensembles and instrumentalists, and performed nationally and internationally in classical, new music, and rock idioms. Joel teaches guitar, music theory, and composition privately, leads workshops on music literacy and communication for media producers, and is a visiting faculty member teaching media composition and film scoring at Longy School of Music of Bard College. https://www.joelroston.com/
